Your Initial Consultation
Leg veins tend to present as a unique pattern in each patient. There may be a majority of spider veins in one patient, while another may have problems with deeper veins. The process adhered to at VeinCentral ensures that the treatment you receive is ideal for your particular venous problem. Each patient requires a referral form their General Practitioner.
On the day, it is a good idea to wera loose fitting clothes. You will be asked to complete a detailed review of symptoms, including those relating to leg veins and/or pelvic veins. If appropriate, you will receive information regarding EVLT so that you will be fully informed during your decision making. An initial examination and medical photographs will be taken to establish the extent of the varicose veins. A vascular surgeon will examine you and perform an initial ultrasound scan, review your history and conduct any other examinations that are required. If varicose veins are present, then you will be sent for a detailed duplex ultrasound in order to maintain a road map of the veins. If your clinical history and ultrasound road map indicate that you are suitable for the procedure, you will see our consultant surgeon to review your history and examination. A final decision regarding EVLT will be made at that stage. The EVLT procedure is performed at our Kangaroo point clinic, located in the Dockside Town Square. After the procedure is performed, you will be given detailed instructions , and an appointment will be made to see you in the next 7 days. |
