What is Ovarian Vein Embolisation?
Ovarian Vein Embolisation refers to vein treatment that uses a hollow catheter, about 2mm in diameter to deliver coils into the pelvic and ovarian veins to seal them.
Complications With Ovarian Vein Embolisation
36 hours after the procedure, most patients experience moderate left sided pelvic pain, however in most cases this subsides after 48 hours. Some patients also experience abdominal bloating and anorexia as a result of the retroperitoneal inflammation. There is no evidence that ovarian function is adversely affected by the vein treatment.
